Annual Fund
A gift to the YSO's Annual Fund ensures that live symphonic music will continue in York for years to come. Our Annual Fund makes everything possible at the YSO. Here are just a few points for you to consider:
- Ticket sales cover less than 35% of YSO expenses (in line with national averages)
- Nearly 20% of our revenue comes from individual contributions like yours.
- Corporate sponsorships represent about 8% of our income
- Grants and special fundraising represents about 35% of income
- It costs more than $60,000 for one Masterworks concert
- Musicians, Chorus, orchestra support personnel, our conductor salaries and guest artist fees account for almost 70% of our operating budget
- Hall rental and related costs are more than 10% of our budget
- Grants continue to shrink
Taking all these into account, we need your help to ensure our future. Our Orchestra, along with other arts organizations help our local economy and help to educate and inspire our children. We need to continue that to ensure our cultural future! Your contribution to the Annual Fund supports everything the YSO does, including artistic development, educating our youth and adults, inspiring our audience, paying our musicians and keeping the music playing in York.
