Half Mad Puppet Theatre
Eight people, a whole lot of puppets, and one crazy idea: To bring vital, innovative, and visually stimulating performance pieces to the DC Metro area through the art of puppetry, music, dance, and to discover new mediums to tell our story. With a theatre community as saturated as DC, starting a new company could be called insane. Well, we think we can do it.
Formerly Perchance to Dream Theatre DC, HalfMad Theatre Company was the brain child of Elizabeth Dapo, and her industrious cast of Twelfth Night (February 2013). Since then, we have been seeking new adventures in the DC theatre community to bring new spins on classical texts, contemporary works, and devised pieces.
In HalfMad’s second season, we produced As You Like It (March 2014), directed by Connor J. Hogan, and Julius Caesar (June 2014), a site-specific adaptation directed by Séamus Miller at the DC War Memorial. Our new adaptation of The Winter’s Tale is directed by Elizabeth Dapo, and kicks off our 2015 season.
